The DFAQ actively
supports the Memory Box Program by painting boxes with suitable designs and
delivering to maternity suites in several hospitals. We have raffles during the year to support
the purchase of these boxes.
Families, whose baby/s
have not survived birth or have died prematurely, are given a box of their choosing
to fill with precious mementoes of their little one. These mementoes could be a quilt, journal
book, small toy, photo, foot-print or lock of hair. This program is Australia and worldwide and
all who participate hope that this small token of love helps the grieving
families know that others understand and care.
We are very humbled
when a family finds the time to write a thank you to us. All boxes are painted with care and
consideration of the event it represents and I know that all my ‘painters’ do
only their best work on these items.
If you would like to view all boxes I have managed to paint please click here. I have tried to name those who painted the boxes but if my memory has slipped I do apologise. They are all beautiful.
